Stories in Digital Media (SIDM) was a blog run by a few students and the professor Frieder Nake, part of the former Digital Media programme in the state of Bremen, Germany. By the end of the first decade of the millennium, the web and digital technology were advancing at an unprecedented pace in the social and artistic sphere. Developments were exciting, and we kept a log of some events and took time to reflect.

What you see here is a rendition of the content as it was back then, in a different, static archival representation. Enjoy this glimpse into a hopeful and exciting past.

DMM - Touristic Walking in Bremen (for new master students)

Dear Masters, vote HERE (doodle poll) if you´ld like participate at November 14th OR November 21st.
Hello New Masters, For those who doesn't know me, my name is Joatan and I am Digital Media Master student (3rd Semester - HSB), and I would like to promote a touristic walking in Bremen, to present the main highlights of the city to the new master students. And I would like to  invite the new students for this activity. I am not an expert on Bremen, but I organized this touristic walking once with the people of my project, and it was a good opportunity to getting in touch with the history and touristic points of Bremen. Actually our master project is a Context-Aware Mobile Learning Game, using the "old city" of Bremen as its first scenario of development. I am planning in do it after the next "Weekend meeting" (for the new people) and before Christmas Market, where the city is full of "kiosks/shops". So I guess the best day will be 14.11.09 (Saturday) r the Saturday after 21.11.09, with the starting point at Hauptbahnhof Bremen, 13:30h in the Info Point, and go walking  from there. The Touristic route may include:
  • Hauptbahnhof,
  • Mühle am Wall,
  • Rathaus (UNESCO World Heritage's monument, together with the Marktplatz),
  • Stadtmusikanten statue,
  • Roland statue,
  • St. Petri Dom,
  • Spiting Stone,
  • "Hole of Bremen",
  • Böttcherstrasse,
  • Schlachte,
  • Schnoor,
  • Viertel (maybe).
Here is a touristic map available As I said, I am not a expert in all contents, but I have some information about these points. More "guiders" are welcome! I am planning the start time at 13:30 in Hbf, because we can get the "bell's time" in the Böttcherstrasse at 15h (which is pretty cool). I think 1h30 is enough to cover until there. Suggestions will be more than welcome! Best Regards, Joatan Preis Dutra
