Stories in Digital Media (SIDM) was a blog run by a few students and the professor Frieder Nake, part of the former Digital Media programme in the state of Bremen, Germany. By the end of the first decade of the millennium, the web and digital technology were advancing at an unprecedented pace in the social and artistic sphere. Developments were exciting, and we kept a log of some events and took time to reflect.

What you see here is a rendition of the content as it was back then, in a different, static archival representation. Enjoy this glimpse into a hopeful and exciting past.

Sagmeister at TED

Smooth Zarathustra of Design Stefan Sagmeister held a brilliant note at TED recently. It's about his sabbaticals and funny and informative. This is the second fantastic video I saw today (actually the third, but the third one does not belong here).

i love his accent :) a vorarlberger who made it to new york (1) and bali definitely is a good choice in my opinion.. and sabbaticals seem to be a good thing as well. although, i would not calculate the business revenue of this year as he did. anyhow, i liked the comparison between his first and second sabbatical - in the first he wanted to have no plans, which ended up that he became his "own intern" doing things that someone else suggests. in the second sabb. he made a plan - and thats what you need if you want to do things, that you cannot do for some reasons during a normal year. (1)(thats what the austrian ex-vice-chancellor Gorbach dreamed of, when he said: "The world in Vorarlberg is too small for me" - http://tinyurl.com/ya9ctzy)

btw. he got the 50.000 € lucky strike design award this year. wow. i think one can live with that in bali for roughly 10 years...
