Afterwards around 18:00h some food is provided … and then the Digital Media Party is going to start.

The annual Digital Media party will take place this year at HFK Music Dep., Dechanatstr., on 22nd of October at 18.00. Marion will post it soon she said on the digital media page but before that she asked to inform as many as possible, so that they can inform the others and so on.

Next thursday, december 10th Frieder Nake and his fellows will start the compArt database on digital art. Due to that reason they invite to a social event, 18:00 the same day, within the third floor, OAS Linzer Str. 9a.

Liebe Kollegen und Kolleginnen, Freunde und Freundinnen,
dear colleages and friends,

I am proud to announce to you the start of the compArt database on digital art.
The database schema which we have worked on for a long time, is gradually filling up with data.
We now believe time has come to make it available on the internet even though we are far from our goal of 98+.
98+ stands for “98% correct with an increasing tendency”.
We know this cannot be verified. But it’s fun to put a quality in the form of a quantity.

These are times of social networks. Therefore we will use them.
compArt has from its start aimed at contributions from artists, critics, curators, researchers, or gallerists.
We are now beginning to actively ask for inputs, corrections, improvements.
We are optimistic to gain such.

The database is only one component of the compArt medium on digital art.
We build various systems on top of the collected data. These systems will establish various interfaces to the data.
They are virtual and actual, in cyberspace and in the Aesthetic Laboratory.

On Thursday, December 10, 2009, we will start the server between 6 and 7 p.m.
We invite our local friends to come and chat with us over a drink (see attached).
We invite all friends in the world to take a look at the current state and send us your critical remarks.

Be advised that we currently restrict our subject area to the time up to 1979.

We wish to live in a more peaceful world.

As we students had to decide to prepare dinner or the entertainment evening I joined the entertainment group. We ha´ve an very flexible outline. But I can give an repot after that ( including Flickr documentation )

as i am willing to start working on my master thesis, i tried to find some theses from my old university. within a minute i landed on an online archive supervised by my former teacher rimbert rudisch. and it is super practical.

not only it provides a perfect latex template ready for instant usage it also includes an archive with master theses done for the mSc. programme “digital media” in hagenberg. (mostly in german i suppose – but english abstracts available). [*] the most recent ones are done by my former colleagues from the bachelor programme, i am really curious to find out what my colleagues have written their theses about…

ps: another tool, which might be helpful for the master thesis is zotero. i have written a blog entry here.

Maybe some of you remember the Yes Men movie we saw at the Amerika Workshop a few months ago. In a very elaborate prank the Yes Men now published a fake New York Times titling “Iraq War Ends” and a lot of other wishful news in the 1.2 Million print fake issue.
