Digital Media and Ethics ?

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

I´ve got a question at the back of my head since a while.

To sum up shortly, I get rid of the common definition of “media” in the journalistic/advertising way. Web 2.0 is not my playground. Flickr, facebook and all of the other “social” web services might be fun, but every child will abandon it´s favorite toy (Google Chrome) if it gets bored or hurt by it (Privacy Concerns Over Google Chrome’s “Omnibox”), or ?

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Finally, after some minor updates and refinements the official web site for the previous master project at Hochschule Bremerhaven (a.k.a University of applied sciences Bremerhaven) is ready.

The Audiovisual Compendium of Film Terminology (ACT!) is an outcome of throughout research, compilation and presentation of film language terms that build the grounds of classical film-making. ACT! compendium features six main categories: Photography, Cinematography, Mise-en-scene, Editing, Sound, and style.

It is built as a comprehensive package, which includes state-of-the-art high definition discs (HD DVD and Blu-ray), a standard DVD, a paper-based glossary manual and supplementary disc navigation map for 219 terms.

All are invited to visit this project on: http://act-project.de/

First Project Presentations (epilogue)

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

I think that I now saw everyone of our age group at the Master Presentations on Friday. Finally! I somehow feel much more connected to the other groups since I know now, what all fellow students are doing.

Here are the four projects in overview:

  • Intelligent Room gesture/sensor based interactive room (Uni)
  • T³H – The Tell Tale Heart personal experiencable installation (HfK)
  • NoISE Sample Browser and Editor (HSB)
  • Game-based learning system for the Schifffahrtsmuseum Bremerhaven (HSBhv)

I liked the presentation of the HSB the best. Because they actually demoed and it was a quite impressive one, regarding the early time of the project.

But what’s your opinion? Which one did you like the best and why? Tell us in the comments.

Master Presentations!

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

If you are sitting in the Marum, Room 2070, it is the 25th April of 2008 and the time is something between 9:30 and 15:30, you don’t need to know that the Master Project Presentations of 07/08 will take place.
If Marion does not forget it and she really will throw this on the wall with the Projector, SIDM greets all Master Students and wishes everyone good luck, fun, insight and a good time and congratulates all Finalists.

Is this of relevance to the NoISE guys?
