Digital Media Master Project Con-Action: QuickWoZ Pretest from sanook on Vimeo.

This is the video that was produced for the midterm presentation of the master project “Con-Action” at the University of Bremen and the University of Fine Arts, Bremen in November 2009. It shows the pretest of an experiment about the impact of the character and gestures of an embodied conversational agent on users’ expectations of such systems.
The pretest was only a small test of the rather complex setup which proved that the concept worked and subjects where successfully tricked to believe that the agent was driven by an AI and not a hidden operator (wizard).

We’re only looking as far into the future as 2.0. We’re planning a 1.5 release before that, which will have two additional components.

The outcomes of the Tiny Sketch competition mentioned in the interview are very nice. The goal was to implement a processing sketch with only 200 characters length.

Our goal is to create a powerful free and open cinema camera that we as filmmakers love to use. The idea of using an Elphel camera for this particular purpose was born in 2006, found many followers over the years and ultimately resulted in this community driven project entitled “Apertus” and this website.

The guys from urbanscreen in Bremen did a fantastic job with this projection on the Galerie der Gegenwart in Hamburg. The tromp-l’oeil effect is convincing – I wonder if that would work at daylight.

This is definitely the most sophisticated facade projection I came across yet.
