The 00s will end in a few days. I take this opportunity to link to the top lists for this decade.
It sure is Duke Nukem Forever, announced in 1997, then awarded with the Intergalactic Vaporware Lifetime Achievement Award (I just invented this one, but I am sure, that there is some price invented especially for DNF’s case), responsible for a whole bunch of wasted youths (wasted hope, wasted time, wasted money, wasted everything), proof of fatalistic perfectionism and a running gag which ended with the shutdown of the 3D Realms studios this year. Wired covers the overhaul.
Just another Ted-talk. This time by Will Wright. The New Statesman describes him in these words :
“Will Wright – a legend among gamers, the nerd’s nerd, undisputed king of the simulation.“
On 22nd till 23rd of January there will be an interesting workshop in berlin. It will take place at the Nordic Embassy and seems to be strongly connected to the Interactive Institute in Sweden. This Interactive Institute runs several branches all over Sweden, for example there is one with focus on Sound in Pitea, Northern Sweden.
The workshop is free, but you have apply for a place and name a reason why the workshop is interesting for you.
Some nice news for us: We could achieve an increase of the pageviews during the last weeks. And we hope that we could create some news of your, the digital media students, interest. If directly related to the programme or not. The idea behind this blog is to create an inofficial platform from the digital media students, for the digital media students and maybe prospects or even friends.
Furthermore we have the interest to spread this Blog a bit further. We are still looking for further participating authors, so if you are an digital media student out of the programme in Bremen or Bremerhaven. Just feel free to apply for this, describe yourself and mail your request to sidm[at]effzehn.de to retrieve authors rights on this blog. Right now we´re only three active authors, two seniors from the University of the Arts. And one student from the programme at the University of Bremen.

As Andre wrote the list of official relevance for the 00´s, I just stumbeled upon a nice new addition to the digg labs website. Some of you might heard about digg, which is more or less a social bookmarking service. Just another Web 2.0 traffic generating service, promoting non-sense as well as important headlines around the web. Based on the diggers votes. It follows the simple principle – dig it, share it. Increment its count. Thats it.
I take this opportunity to write down what the 00s were technologically all about. Most points here I wrote down by heart, with some I did some extra research. Enjoy the soon-to-be-retro-feelings!
There had been some hard work done to make Processing run on Android. Read some details here or here:
