HI, last year I followed The New Yorker Conference, “Stories from the Near Future,” and I founded interesting what was discussed there, this year it took place on May 8 and 9, 2008. I recommend taking a look at some of the 22 conferences.

There are a bunch of tools for creating Typefaces, but fontstruct is one of the easy to use ones. After registering you may easily create fonts out of a palette of predefined shapes, allowing a huge variety of results.
